Benefits of joining

What are MAG’s Federations services?

Federations services by Martial Arts Group (MAG) are marketing, management and growth services for martial arts federations and sports associations at local, regional, national and international level. The Federations group includes Community Sustainability, Member Growth and Federation Management Support. Each service can be used on its own or combined with the others, depending on the goals and resources involved. Every engagement starts with a conversation about goals, followed by a practical plan with defined deliverables, channels and responsibilities that MAG carries out, measures and refines over time. Martial Arts Group (MAG) is based in The Hague, the Netherlands, and works with clients across the Netherlands and Europe.

Martial arts federations play a crucial role in developing the sport, but growth and sustainability require strong community engagement, member expansion, and professional management. We provide tailored strategies to help federations thrive in the modern digital era.

Federation services

Which federation services does MAG offer?

The federation services of Martial Arts Group (MAG) are three connected services—Community Sustainability, Member Growth and Federation Management Support—for martial arts federations and sports associations at local, regional, national and international level. MAG works alongside federation boards and staff to strengthen three things every federation depends on: an engaged community, a growing membership base and a professional, well-run organization.

Community Sustainability covers youth programs, community events and local gym partnerships. Member Growth combines targeted outreach, retention programs and data-driven optimization. Federation Management Support covers branding, websites, membership tools, sponsorship and strategic consulting.

Federations carry responsibility for the sport itself—its rules, its competitions, its coaches and the next generation of athletes. Yet many are run by small teams and volunteers who have limited time for marketing, digital tools or partnership development. MAG brings that expertise to the federation from its base in The Hague, so leadership can stay focused on the sport.

Why MAG

Why do federations work with MAG?

Federations choose Martial Arts Group (MAG) because it focuses exclusively on martial arts. MAG understands how federations, gyms, coaches and fighters relate to one another, and designs every strategy around the realities of the sport rather than a generic marketing template.

Because MAG also works with gyms and clubs, athletes and corporate partners, a federation that works with MAG gains access to a wider martial arts network. That connection makes it easier to recruit members through affiliated clubs, promote events, and present a credible offer to sponsors.

  • Specialist knowledge of the martial arts and combat sports landscape
  • One partner for community, membership, marketing and management questions
  • Connections to gyms, athletes, platforms and corporate partners in the MAG network
  • Strategies tailored to local, regional, national and international federations
  • A practical, hands-on approach that supports volunteers and small teams

Our approach

How does a collaboration with MAG work?

A collaboration with Martial Arts Group (MAG) is a five-step process—intake, assessment, plan, execution and evaluation—that takes a federation from its current situation to a focused plan with clear priorities. Every collaboration starts with a conversation with the board or management team about where the federation stands today and where it wants to be.

MAG then reviews the federation’s membership, communication channels, events and digital presence, and proposes a roadmap covering community, growth and management priorities. MAG stays involved through execution, measurement and refinement: campaigns, programs, websites and tools are delivered by MAG and its partners, and engagement and membership results are reported regularly so the plan can be adjusted where needed.

The scope can be a single project or an ongoing partnership. An exploratory conversation can be requested via info@martialartsgroup.com or +31 6 30 31 25 80.

A connected network

How does MAG connect federations to the wider martial arts ecosystem?

The MAG network is an ecosystem of gyms, athletes, companies, platforms and partners that Martial Arts Group (MAG) connects to federation strategy. Federations rarely grow in isolation: members train in gyms, athletes represent the sport and businesses sponsor it. MAG links federation plans to all three.

MAG’s own platforms provide digital reach. MMA.School is a knowledge hub on mixed martial arts and a network of MMA schools in the Netherlands; VechtsportGalas.nl is a calendar of combat sports events, searchable by location and discipline; and KickboksenVoorVrouwen.nl connects women with women-only kickboxing classes at partner gyms. Technology partner TRON Group provides IT infrastructure and security, and website partner A Great Team supports websites, design and online visibility.

Whether a federation needs a renewed website, a youth campaign or a sponsorship strategy, MAG coordinates the right expertise from one point of contact.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our Federations services

What services does Martial Arts Group offer federations?

Martial Arts Group (MAG) offers federations three services: Community Sustainability (youth programs, events and gym partnerships), Member Growth (targeted marketing, retention programs and data-driven optimization) and Federation Management Support (branding, websites, membership tools, sponsorship and strategic consulting). A federation can start with one service or combine all three, and each service has its own page describing what it includes.

Why should a federation work with a martial arts specialist?

A martial arts specialist understands how federations, gyms, coaches and athletes interact and what motivates martial artists to join and stay. MAG designs strategies around those realities and connects federations to a wider network of gyms, athletes and corporate partners, as well as its own platforms, such as VechtsportGalas.nl for promoting combat sports events and MMA.School for reaching newcomers to mixed martial arts.

Does MAG work with federations of every size?

Yes. MAG supports local, regional, national and international federations, and adapts each approach to the federation’s discipline, structure and available resources. A regional federation run by volunteers may start with one focused project, such as a youth campaign or a new website, while a national federation may work with MAG as an ongoing strategic and marketing partner.

What determines the cost of MAG’s federation services?

The cost depends on the scope of the work rather than a fixed price list. The main factors are the services involved, whether the work is a one-off project or an ongoing partnership, the number of clubs and members to reach, and whether websites, tools or campaign budgets are included. MAG prepares a tailored proposal after an exploratory conversation; email info@martialartsgroup.com to request one.

How do we start working with MAG?

Start by contacting MAG at info@martialartsgroup.com or +31 6 30 31 25 80 for an exploratory conversation. MAG discusses the federation’s current situation and ambitions, assesses its membership, communication channels and digital presence, and then proposes a tailored plan with clear priorities for community, growth and management. Work begins once the scope has been agreed with the board.

Can MAG help with both strategy and execution?

Yes. MAG develops the strategy and also delivers the work—campaigns, programs, websites and tools—together with trusted partners such as technology partner TRON Group and website partner A Great Team. The federation therefore has one point of contact from plan to results, and progress on engagement and membership is reported regularly so priorities can be adjusted.
